Before the last assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, prime minister Narendra Modi launched the Ujjwala Yojana scheme. Now, he's done it again with Ujjwala 2.0.

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is one of the Modi government's most publicised schemes. Claiming to have 99.5 percent coverage, the scheme gives free LPG connections to deprived households so that they shift to clean cooking fuel. But the scheme is on the brink of failure, with beneficiaries struggling to refill their cylinders due to the rise in price. Additionally, since last May, the Modi government has held back the subsidy on LPG even as more and more people are pushed into poverty due to the pandemic.

In this episode, we explore the scheme and how the price rise is affecting its implementation. In our Know Your Neta segment, on public demand, we're reviewing Lallu Singh, the MP from Faizabad.
