In the midst of the election madness, we have some news.
Newslaundry turns 10 years old on February 7, 2022!
When we first started out in 2012, we wanted to create an alternate narrative for news media – one based on a different revenue model and a discourse that would enhance the quality, accountability and respect for the craft of journalism.
Ten years later, we’ve come a long way in our promise, delivering ad-free news despite being a lean team. We deliver reportage in innovative and engaging formats including text, podcasts, animation, videos and comics – content formats that didn’t exist in the ecosystem.
We were also the first to espouse the need for an independent news media platform that could speak truth to power, including to the government and our own peers. And today, it’s clear why that’s more important than ever.
Since our inception, our subscribers have been the backbone of funneling this disruptive shift in the media ecosystem. Today, we have grown into an organisation with thousands of paid subscribers who keep us going.
While we had a packed roster of physical events planned, the new Covid wave shelved those plans. But we have good news! You can still join us virtually as we mark a decade of Newslaundry and bring back our content from the early days, conduct interactive sessions with subscribers, roll out limited edition merchandise, auction commissioned artworks featuring everyone who has played a part to build Newslaundry, and much more.
