Indian TV news is a mess. Over the years, a section of news channels have become synonymous with disinformation, propaganda and hate speech.

But how do they get away with it? Is there no accountability? Is there no organisation monitoring their deeds – or misdeeds?

Actually, there is. It’s called the News Broadcasters Digital Association and one of its jobs is to administer codes of ethics and broadcasting standards.
