While the Mehrauli murder case gripped the airwaves, ridiculous conspiracy theories and theatrics were in full supply as channels tried to one-up each other. Rubika had a forensics team help her understand the case even as Arnab was busy assisting the investigators himself. Reporters scoured the jungle for masala while NDTV went out to look at fridges, giving LG some unwanted publicity.

Channels eventually returned to their usual Muslim-bashing programming by suggesting “love jihad”, and Sudhir’s dislike of dating apps was on full display. Meanwhile, in the focus on sensationalism and bigotry, the issue of women’s safety was lost.
