Your weekly dose of all the insanity that passes off as news on TV.
On this week’s episode of TV Newsance, we dive into the bizarre, the viral, and the downright baffling side of political news in India.
It all began with CM Yogi Adityanath’s now-infamous remark calling the Mahagathbandhan leaders “Gappu, Appu, and Tappu”. No, it’s not gibberish – it’s real politics, prime-time edition. From Arnab’s endless debates to Rubika echoing the same circus, the news cycle turned into a meme fest.
But beyond the noise, the Bihar election took centrestage and one name dominated headlines: Anant Singh, aka “Chhote Sarkar”. Once a candidate for the NDA, Singh is now in jail, accused in a murder case in Mokama. He also has 28 criminal cases against him, with charges including attempt to murder and dacoity.
Before his arrest, Singh became a YouTube and TV “content machine”, going viral for asking for cigarettes mid-interview. From then on, it was chaos – journalists queued up for selfies and sound bites, chasing views instead of stories.
