An article in The Wire finds its way to Times Now and Republic TV’s prime time

The one thing that comes to our mind after witnessing Republic TV Commander-in-Chief Arnab Goswami’s tirade against The Wire last night is this song.

No seriously. After all the hate he professes for Pseudo-Left-liberals-Lutyens’-Gymkahana-Golf Club-Add-Another-Random-Club journalists, he spends almost an hour, ONE precious primetime hour, debating on these very objects of hate and their so-called motivations.

So what if farmers are protesting in Maharashtra or if the government hid cases of Zika virus or even that the Central Bureau of Investigation raided offices and homes of Prannoy Roy? The Wire carried an op-ed and that deserves the nation’s time and attention THREE DAYS AFTER the piece was published.

Goswami opened up the debate calling the author of the piece Partha Chatterjee illiterate, claiming that the entire article was based on “falsehoods.” Of course, this was followed by phrases like Pakistani propaganda, Pakistani agent and so on. At one point, Goswami stated that it’s time to attack The Wire, adding that they should be attacked with words and democratically. Thank god for small mercies.

Similar scenes played out at Times Now where Goswami’s apprentice Navika Kumar went on a rant on how Chatterjee didn’t know history and how there must be a Pakistani agenda behind the article. She went on to say, “He (Chatterjee) sits in the United States of America, he gets paid in dollars, has he ever questioned the US Army?”

Meanwhile, India Today decided to catch up today, giving us breaking news on CPI (M) mouthpiece criticising the Army “after Partha Chatterjee”. Just kill us already.
