The recently concluded election coverage was sorely lacking a well known face this time. Arnab Goswami is busy setting up his ‘independent’ channel RepublicTV, and gathering several known faces to join his venture. The latest on the list is retired Major Gaurav Arya. Republic announced its association with Arya on Twitter soon after he wrote a blog post stating, “In the next few months, Arnab Goswami is bringing a hurricane to your doorstep. And I am coming with that hurricane. News will never be the same again.”

Arya’s post detailed how he and Goswami knew each other back when he was the face of Times Now. Arya explained his “sheer frustration of seeing multitudes worshipping a dead a terrorist at his funeral” prompting him to write an “Open letter to Burhan Wani” in 2016. It was after this open letter, that Arya debuted on Indian television through a “well-known English channel”. It was after this interview that he was approached by a “familiar face” (Gowami) to appear on his show, which happened to be “The News Hour” on Times Now.

As of now it unclear as to what his role would be. But he assures his readers “For too long in the mainstream media, faux ideology has substituted fact. Sometimes, it has been money, sometimes special interest. No longer.”
