The unbearable existence of Delhi Times’ advertorials on Gurmeet Ram Rahim

The only thing good about Hind Ka Napak Ko Jawab –  MSG Lion Heart 2 releasing today is that Delhi Times will hopefully stop featuring advertorials on the film and its protagonist from today on. Unless of course there are features planned on what a hit the film is. For those living under a rock, Delhi Times is the advertorial section of The Times of India where people pay to be featured, usually before they have a big film release. So it’s not exactly quality entertainment journalism or film reporting. But even by its advertorial standards, its features of Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s next release are just excruciating to bear that too on the front-page.

On February 6, there was one on how ‘Dr’ MSG and his daughter Honeypreet Insan perform tough stunts in the film “without using any dupe”.

Today, Delhi Times’ anchor tell us that the film is releasing and the “takeaway” for fans is that they can see him in a “romantic role”. Shudder. The advertorial also quotes states that Gurmeet Ram Rahim “claims” to have handled every department of film making. The use of the word “claims” is proof that there are at least some editors in Delhi Times who are sifting through PR.
