Modi wants government officers to work on Saturdays. It’s cruel and inhuman. Now they’ll have to play golf on Sunday. When will they spend time with their families? Discussed this with Gursharan. “It was probably the families who suggested it”, she said.

Narayan Murthy is doing such a fine job at Infosys. I had predicted all-round improvement. It seems to have started. I don’t know what attrition is, but it’s up by 18%. It’s all about confidence. People must feel much more secure now that Rohan Baba is there.

Sagarika may not be returning to CNN-IBN. The nation will miss her hair.

Even golf is not going to be allowed! Am shocked. The IAS will have to switch to kabaddi. They should be good at it. They play it with files all the time.

Anthony is heading the committee to probe our defeat. This means it will remain a mystery.

Priyanka came and inquired after my health. She discussed my diet with Gursharan, along with other healthcare practices. “Once in a while, you should oil him thoroughly with olive oil before bathing”, she said.

Why do I get the feeling that she’s trying to preserve me, like a pickle?

Saw Derek O’Brien jogging in Nehru Park. His face was painted blue and he was wearing an Argentina jersey. I waved at him, but he failed to see me. Next time, he should avoid painting the lenses.

Apparently Shashi Tharoor is writing a biography of Vajpayee. He’d better write fast. Akbar started months ago.

Now that she is Foreign Minister, was hoping Sushma Swaraj would wear Western dress. Disappointed. At least she should wear heels. That Wang is so much taller. Next to him, she looked like a munchkin.

The women are very active in this government. Sushma has been tackling China. Now Smriti Irani has made buttermilk compulsory for all mid-day meals. This was bound to happen. I had noticed there were too many South Indians in the Education Department, but I didn’t want to say anything, because of Alagiri. He’s so sensitive. He got very upset when we refused to change the menu in the Lok Sabha canteen. In the name of alliances, I have suffered so much. At least Sharad could speak English. Once in a while, he would sit in my chair and spin round and round when he thought I wasn’t looking, but otherwise he was very helpful.

Six Goa MLAs are going on a fact-finding mission to Brazil. How absurd! They didn’t select any officials. What were they thinking? This trip is bound to get canceled.Who’s going to clear all the files? Kalmadi was not foolish like that. During the Olympics, we sent so many officials, we had to drop some of the coaches.

Kapil called me to read out his new poem. Said I was suffering from ear infection. We must get him more cases.

Terrible news! Narayan Murthy has been toppled by an outsider! Am not sure about this Sikka fellow. Can a man with eyebrows like that be trusted?

Friday, June 13

The Intelligence Bureau is very upset about NGOs. More importantly, so is Arnab. Saw him on TV. He was shouting at a man from PUCL. The man shouted back, but Arnab controls the microphones, so he lost. Am so glad someone is finally taking a stand. Foreigners are already pouring money into political parties and companies. Foreign players are dominating IPL. Foreign people own our fingerprints. Words like “fugly” are entering the consciousness of the youth. Google knows all our requirements. Russian girls are doing item numbers. If we’re not careful, foreigners will take over everything. We have to draw the line somewhere.

Modi’s first foreign trip is to Bhutan. Smart thinking. He’s going somewhere close so he can come back quickly. Last time I went to the US, Rahul Baba tore up my ordinance at the Gymkhana Club.

Someone had been leaking my diaries. I suspect Chidu.
