I am an NRI, yes, a non-resident Indian residing in Atlanta and itching to go back to India. Being from a not-so-financially sound family, whatever little prosperity my family has seen is because I am working in this so-called developed country. Being free from all liabilities, I have been trying to go back to India since 2013 but all my well-wishers had been asking me not to move back because the Indian economy is not doing well, gross domestic product of 5, inflation, etc. I always knew that I can easily survive with my profession but I wasn’t brave enough to believe eight out of 10 people are wrong.

Come May 2014, we have a new Prime Minister who is “Dabang”, “Superman” and surround sound says he has a magic wound that could fix everything. Not being a fan of the “Namo” gang, the marketing campaign nevertheless made me believe something would definitely improve. I started smelling move-back and became very optimistic.

May 2015 – one year of the new government and I read all the articles about how my country is being watched upon by the whole world. At the same time, there’s my family that is still complaining about everything they have to deal with — price of pulses, vegetables and their small enterprise going down.  Things are confusing now.

Amid the 7.5 GDP growth and common-man issues, there comes our own Ravish Kumar. On June 2, his prime-time show raised the exact questions that are going through my mind. He is definitely a common man’s journalist. His show focuses on questions that are surely on every Indian’s mind. I would recommend every one to watch this episode.

This episode (just like his previous episode) justifies true journalism. It gave me so much insight. Thank you Ravish ji, for adding these small moments to our life.
