Dialogues of the popular Hindi movie Sholay never seem to lose their relevance, not for Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan anyway. His penchant for using them during election rallies is well known to voters in his assembly constituency of Azamgarh. However, this time he used one to thaw relations between his party’s state president, Shivpal Yadav, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. The discord between Chacha Shivpal and Bhatija Akhilesh is out in the open, so much so that they have kept their interactions with each other to a bare minimum. During the cabinet meeting chaired by Akhilesh and attended by Shivpal in Lucknow on Tuesday, everyone was waiting for someone else to speak. That’s when Azam Khan came to the rescue. In an animated tone, he broke into a famous dialogue rendered by Rahim Chacha in Sholay, Itna sannata kyun hai bhai (Why is there so much silence)?” Tension broken, the meeting began.  While one cannot be sure if Khan was successful in breaking the ice between Akhilesh and Shivpal, the UP CM told mediapersons after the meeting, “All is well within the party.”
