You’ve got to give it to Congress’ media strategists for being, well, the worst media strategists ever. We suggest they learn a little from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), both the OPS and Sasikala fraction, on how to manage and command media attention. To start with, they could just begin by watching some television news to realise that nothing, we repeat nothing, can get news anchors’ attention away from the drama that’s unfolding in Chennai by the minute. Heck, if it can eclipse the Uttar Pradesh election, what are Ajay Maken and his little press conferences in Delhi?
Here’s what the president of Delhi state Congress tweeted out in the afternoon.
The big announcement was apparently that sitting Aam Aadmi Party Councillor from Nanakpura, New Delhi, Anil Malik has joined Congress. Maken also stated that others from AAP and Bharatiya Janata Party wanted to join Congress.
The Hindu seems to have been the only paper present at the press conference.
At the time of this short going up, not a single channel had cut to the conference or even flashed the development on its ticker. Neither have any of the news organisations Twitter handle woken up to this. Incidentally, even Malik’s Twitter handle hasn’t.

Congress could not have chosen a worse day or time than this because the conference on any other day would have at least generated a ticker update, if not a prime-time debate.
