Protesting Tamil Nadu farmers stripped outside Prime minister’s office today in North Block, New Delhi. They took this step after being denied a meeting with the Prime minister.
The farmers have been on protest for three weeks now demanding that government should heed to farmer suicides and present a drought relief package of 40000 crore. In fact, according to the Indian Express they have released a five-point list of demands that includes farm loan waivers and pensions for the elderly or disabled.
The protesting farmers have adopted unprecedented methods to register their protest. Earlier they were protesting with garlands of skulls, dead rats and even held dead snakes in their mouth outside the Loksabha speaker’s house. They claim that they’ve had to escalate their tactics in the face of government apathy
