People of NL Hafta, This is a Rant.
This is a Rant.
I am being burning from within, the fire is being stoked and rages with every action the people of India take.
I am not well read, not from any prestigious institutions, no accolades to my name. Not a Brahmin, maulvi or a priest. I am a faceless, common place, average citizen pushed and shoved around as I make my way through the rat race.
I am shocked and flabbergasted at the distortion and destruction of Hindu Values. I believe in Hinduism. I believe in the idea of India that the forefathers fought and martyred for. I have no personal heroes. I don’t believe they exist.
Hindu Values, a polarizing, violent, bigoted and barbaric concept. Or is it?
It is not. It is not what some educated illiterates claim ii to be. it is not what Babas and Yogis say. Hindu Values is not nobody’s personal opinion. Hindu values are not a bloody strategy and it’s definitely not a force to reckon with.
Hindu Values as a concept is liberalising, peaceful, accommodating and a modern set of concepts.
But some people, whom I wish I could slay, but the Hindu in me stops me from doing so, have take it upon themselves to destroy my Hindustan my India.
You want to know how,
Hindu Value 1:
Atithi Devo Bhava
Ghanta. Recent attack on people with a little darker complexion than mine are a proof that Hindu Values “khatre main hai”
Hindu Value 2:
Respect towards Others – Sarva Dharma Sambhava
Remember the scene from the movie Border, where on asked by the villager why did he risk his life to save the Quran despite being a Hindu, he answered “Apne aapko bhulkar dusro ko sambhalna hi to Hindu Dharma hai. Sadiyo se yahi to karta aaya hai Hindu”. And how we all Hindus felt pride. Yes, that’s what I am talking about.
Where the fuck has, this pride gone. All these so-called Hindus are doing the exact Opposite.
Hindu Value 3:
Practice of Debate
I studies Sanskrit in my formative years. We read on stories upon stories of how scholars from across the plains and mountains used to come and debate ideas. The concept was either get convinced or convince the other one.
Westerners may call this freedom of speech, and though I may not have a Sanskrit equivalent, but this concept has been lost on the “Pakhandis”. Whichever Parishad or Sangha or Parivar you belong to, you are not a Hindu if your first call is to pick up a weapon whenever someone makes a comment far intelligent for you to comprehend. You are a buffoon.
Hindu Value 4:
Sa Vidya ya vimuktaye – That is Knowledge, which liberates
Where have all the scientists gone. Where has the research gone. Where are the beloved Philosophers?
Need I say more.
These are only a few examples of Values that a true Hindu follows. What I see happening in the name of Hindu values makes me want to scream, curse and yell.
I grew up much like everyone else thinking the words of those running the government is gospel truth. Assuming or rather having blind faith that my leaders shall not deceive, shall not cheat, lie or steal. But blatant corruption of human values, God complex and lack of common sense has ruined this democracy. Yes, you read it right. Our model of democracy has degraded like very model ever created does over time.
People get the Leaders they deserve. Are we really as a people such blabbering idiots, unevolved, ungrateful, losers and we deserve despots for leaders.
I look forward to NL Hafta as the place for sane voices that brings some calm to this storm in my mind. Giving me hope that all is not lost. That till we are, till we exist, we shall resist and all will be well someday.
PS: Some ideas may not appear coherent. The letter may seem leaning on the side of lunacy. I may not make any sense whatsoever. But people of NL Hafta are my people and they shall bring me back safe home.
Regards,
Pranay

Hi NL Team,
I’ve been listening to the NL Podcasts for a few months now, and i’m really hooked. I really like NL Hafta, and i would like to recommend the podcast NoAgenda to you guys (by Adam Curry(he’s the one who created podcasts, also called the podfather sometimes and John C. Dvorak). They’ve been doing the same format as you guys i.e. subscriber donations(and i’ve actually been donating to their podcast over the past couple of years.). While they mostly deal with US centric issues, but they do a fair chunk of global news. They deconstruct news items unlike anything i’ve seen before. So do check it out if you haven’t. Give it a couple of episodes because it’s hard to get into, but i’m sure you’ll love it.
I recently subscribed for six months to NL. But i have an issue with the podcast. I use my own podcast app(PocketCast on android and web). I used to subscribe to your podcasts RSS feed there when i was a free user and it works great. Now that i’m a paid user, with access to more content like Hafta earlier, i wanted to know if there’s a way to get a private RSS url that i can add to any podcast app? While i get that you have an app, but it’s no-where near the user-experience of some of the more popular apps yet. I’m sure you’ll get there in time, but i think right now as a paid user, i’m hampered by having to go to your site + the app each time i need to listen to the latest podcasts. The main feature i lose is the ability to resume from where i was listening.
Anyway best of luck and continue with your work. I’ve been propagating your podcast among people i know(albeit the free version)
