Choudhary Munawwar Hasan, a Bahujan Samaj Party leader, along with his wife and four children were murdered. The Delhi police arrested the accused Sahib Khan alias Bunty, a 27-year old property dealer and business partner of Hasan. The police said that the accused allegedly carried out the killings to take over two crores worth properties.
Jatin Narwal, DCP (North) said, “During police investigations statement of Bunty, who was the initial complainant in the case, his friend Deepak’s and one of the neighbour’s were recorded. Finding discrepancies in the statements of Deepak and Khan, the police interrogated Khan at length and he confessed to have hired contract killers in order to get Munawwar killed.”
The accused revealed that the bodies of the family members were buried in different locations in and around Delhi. The Police, in their exhumation operation recovered the bodies of Hasan’s two sons Akeeb and Shakeeb. The bodies were buried with salt to speed up the decomposition process.
Khan also revealed that he killed Hasan’s wife Ishrat and two daughters Aarzoo and Aarai. He also confessed to burying their bodies in the farms along the highway towards Saharanpur.
Hasan was accused of several crimes including land grabbing, kidnapping, rape and attempt to murder. He was logged in Tihar Jail, after his conviction early this year but was released on interim bail on May 17. He was found dead at home with several shot wounds.
