Prime Minister Narendra Modi may be used to Indian newspapers fawning over him. But on the eve of his Israel trip, English dailies in Israel went the whole hog too with page 1 and wall-to-wall coverage of the much-quoted “historic” visit.

The website of The Jerusalem Post, one of the leading English-language Israeli newspapers,  has a new sub-section, “Modi’s visit”.

While the Post‘s e-paper welcomed Modi with a namaste.

The Post’s Twitter account has a new pinned tweet–a pull quote from an article by MadhuPurnima Kishwar, an Indian academic and writer– which was liked by Twitter handles of PMO India as well as PM Modi.

Ha’aretz, the independent, daily newspaper published in English and Hebrew, ran 7 articles about Modi, his visit and Israel-India relations over the last two days.

Times of Israel followed suit.

This included a tweet by Times of Israel’s Deputy Editor Elie Leshem. Retweeted by the paper’s official handle, the tweet quoted Indian PM Narendra Modi and Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu as saying, “Both our nations are complex. Like yogic asanas grounding down and pulling up at the same time, they face many challenges.” The photo-shopped image (nudge, nudge) has Modi on the yoga mat holding up, what looks like a girl with Benjamin Netanyahu’s face photo-shopped on it, in a clear reference to the social media and photoshop-friendly bhakts.
