This came soon after the three-time Rajya Sabha MP tendered her resignation after she was stopped from speaking about anti-Dalit violence in Saharanpur.

Accusing her of “playing politics”, Naqvi demanded an apology and said, “It (threatening the chair) is a serious matter,” according to The Hindu.

Even as Ansari’s office is “examining” the matter, Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House Ghulam Nabi Azad came to Mayawati’s rescue as he charged the government of going back on its promise. In an all-party meeting earlier, the government had assured the Opposition that any issue raised by it would be discussed during the Monsoon Session.
