Rajya Sabha MP and Janata Dal United leader Sharad Yadav has indicated a possible split in the party in reaction to party chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s joining the BJP and forming a government after breaking Mahagathbandhan ties with the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress.

On Thursday, Sharad Yadav, who is currently on a three-day tour of Bihar, said, “Sarkari log nai party mein shamil ho gaye (People in government have joined a new party). The sarkari (government-led) JD (U) is being run by Nitish Kumar and I am with the JD (U), which has the support of the people of Bihar,” he was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

He also lashed out at Nitish accusing him of cheating the mandate. “People have been cheated. They voted Mahagathbandhan to power and the mandate was against the BJP. But Nitish betrayed voters which has made me very sad,” he was quoted as saying by Firstpost.

The JD (U) leader has been constantly tweeting and updating about the developments of his tour.
