After the CBI court in Panchkula convicted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh for rape, widespread violence erupted in several parts of Punjab and Haryana. At least 31 people have died in the clashes with 28 casualties in Panchkula while Sirsa, the headquarters of the dera, reported three casualties. Violence also spread to Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad with empty buses and train coaches set on fire by Dera supporters. Section 144 was imposed in several parts of Haryana and Delhi.
The Indian Express reported that Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has being summoned to Delhi.
Delhi Police on Saturday said the situation is under control in the National capital.
According to ANI, the Army has entered the premises of Dera Sacha Sauda Headquarters in Sirsa district of Haryana.
