CJI Dipak Misra overrules another judge’s order setting up constitution bench

Supreme Court Chief Justice Dipak Misra on Friday junked Justice J Chelameswar’s order on the constitution of a five-judge bench on the grounds that only the Chief Justice is the master of the roll. Here are a series of tweets explaining what happened in the Supreme Court.

Two of the judges – Justice Sikri and Justice Bhushan recused themselves from the bench. Now a bench of 5-judges constituted by the CJI is in the process of reviewing Justice Chelameswar’s order.
