वह भी कोई देश है महाराज (Wah Bhi Koi Des Hai Maharaj)

This book is a fine fusion of reportage, travelogue and politics. It is based o the journey of 7 sisters of Northeast. In the context of current political development, this book can be a good guide for “Hindi Heart Land Janata” to understand the complexity of Northeast in an easy, funny way.

More savage than Caravaggio: the woman who took revenge in oil

Artemisia Gentileschi

I’d like to share this article on Artemisia Gentileschi, a female baroque painter who became renowned in a time when women painters were not accepted by the artistic community. Her paintings depicted women, not in an ideal like how other male painters are but in a more realistic light.

I would also recommend a comparison between Caravaggio’s painting of Judith Slaying Holofernes and Gentileschi’s version to best illustrate this point. Also, look at the painting of Susanna and the Elders by her and the same subject by her contemporaries. One of the most progressive painters and woman of her generation, I think the world needs to know more about her.

Face the Racist Nation

Have sections of the media been giving too much coverage to white supremacists? Should the media be covering them at all? Did sections of the media get played by white supremacists? What does the news media often get wrong about white supremacists, and what do those errors expose about the broader challenge of confronting racism in America? This podcast is a deep dive into all these questions and several others. It is a must listen!
