Senior NDTV journalist Ravish Kumar is being threatened and abused over WhatsApp. Sharing screenshots of WhatsApp messages from unknown numbers on his Facebook wall, Kumar wrote that false allegations were being made against him with respect to the Ghazipur rape case.
Kumar also stated those threatening and abusing him were followers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has mixed politics with an abusive culture.
Apart from abuses, threats to Kumar’s life were made as well. Sharing the reason behind making a few of the numbers public, Kumar stated: “ये धमकियाँ काफ़ी सीरीयस हो चुकी हैं। नंबर इसलिए भी दे रहा हूं कि मुझे कुछ हुआ तो ये जिम्मेदार होंगे क्योंकि इनमें से कई धमकी भी दे रहे हैं। (Threats have become pretty serious…sharing the numbers because if something were to happen to me then these people will be responsible.)
Newslaundry tried contacting some of the numbers which were used for sending these messages. While most numbers were switched off, Newslaundry spoke to Santosh Sinha and Prashant (changed name) about these messages. Neither of whom expressed any regret.
