On May 6, Karnataka Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) published a report that analysed the basic details of candidates contesting in the upcoming state polls. The analysis looked at self-sworn affidavits of 2,560 of the 2,655 candidates in the fray. 
While the records of some were incomplete or badly scanned, the affidavits analysed by ADR present some surprising numbers on the share of wealth, candidates’ criminal background and more. The most startling of all is the skewed gender ratio. Watch.
