Two Uttar Pradesh police sub-inspectors, Ashok Singh Bhadauriya and the then station officer and sub-inspector Kamta Prasad Singh, have been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the Unnao rape case. Both Bhadauriya and Prasad are from Unnao’s Makhi police station. The arrests were made on Wednesday in relation to the death of the minor girl’s father.

The teenager had alleged that she was raped by Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar on June 4, 2017, at his residence, where she had gone seeking a job. The CBI arrested Kuldeep Sengar on April 13, earlier this year.

According to an NDTV report, officials have said that the accused are presently under suspension and will be produced before the competent court. The officers have been arrested over allegations of criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence.

The father of the girl was booked by the police under the Arms Act on April 3, 2018, and subsequently put in jail on April 5. He later died in judicial custody. The post-mortem report indicated serious injuries on his body.
