The post-mortem report of Akbar Khan alias Rakbar is out. And it clearly states that he died to due injuries inflicted on him.
Khan, 28, and his associate Aslam were attacked by cow vigilantes in Alwar’s Lalawandi village who thought that the duo were cattle smugglers. Serious questions were raised on the police’s role in the case, ever since the record of the CHC Ramgarh surfaced which showed that the police took almost three hours to take Akbar to the hospital.
The autopsy report says, that Akbar died of “shock as a result of ante-mortem [before death] injuries sustained over body.” According to reports, the autopsy further shows that he suffered 13 injuries –eight bruises, two abrasions, a laceration, and a fracture in wrist joint and another in left femur.
All injuries were inflicted nearly 12 hours before the post-mortem was conducted, says the report.
The doctors observed: “We the members of the medical board after careful examination of a dead body are of opinion that the cause of death, in this case, is shock as a result of ante-mortem injuries sustained over body mentioned in PMR. However, visceras (sic) are preserved to rule out any intoxication prior to death or pre-existing disease.”
Earlier on Monday, the Union Home Ministry sought a report on this case and the state has swung into action. ASI Mohan Singh, in charge of Ramgarh police station and who led the police team on July 20-21, has been suspended for the delay in taking Khan to the hospital.
