It was impossible to scroll through Twitter yesterday and not find a #MeToo story. The movement against sexual harassment had finally reached the Indian media industry with women journalists taking to Twitter to share their stories

On October 5, Sandhya Menon, a freelance journalist, alleged harassment by a Times of India editor.

According to NDTV, Times of India will be looking into the case: “A highly empowered and accessible committee under this policy and under the law is in place to investigate and address all allegations of sexual harassment.” Following Menon’s tweet, several women journalists took to Twitter to share their stories of harassment at the workplace as well. However, this did not find any space on front or inside pages of leading English dailies such as The Indian Express, Hindustan Times, The Hindu and Times of India today. There were no editorials either. Meanwhile, on TV news apart from NDTV‘s show with Nidhi Razdan and CNN News18‘s debate with Marya Shakil, journalists outing their superiors/colleagues did not find space in primetime discussions. Web portals like Firstpost, NewsCentral ,  Scroll and InUth did cover the story.
