The Oshiwara police has registered an FIR against actor Alok Nath for rape based on a complaint filed by writer-producer Vinta Nanda. Alok Nath has been charged under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code. According to Tehelka, Alok Nath’s lawyer said the 62-year-old actor “is not in a state to reply to the FIR, citing health issues”. His lawyer also said the allegations against him are baseless.

In October, Nanda had accused Alok Nath of raping her two decades ago, writing in detail of her experience. Nanda also said, “Irony is that the man, the predator in question here is the actor par excellence who is known as the most #Sanskaari (Cultured) person in the film and television industry.”

On October 15, Alok Nath had filed a civil defamation suit against Vinta and sought a written apology and a compensation of ₹1.
