The rebuilding of Ram Mandir might be one of the biggest talking points for the rest of the nation ahead of the 2019 general election, but for the young students of Madhya Pradesh, a state that goes to polls on Wednesday, issues like unemployment and the farming crisis are what need to be addressed first.

Newslaundry’s Prateek Goyal spoke with some of the students who took part in a unique Halloween rally, dressed in scary costumes and with their faces painted, on the streets of Bhopal, in an effort to find out what were the more pressing issues that they wanted to be addressed.

Their answers are varied, but all have one common denominator: that Ayodhya can’t be the sole basis on which they would vote for the governing BJP. Issues like the prevailing farming crisis and unemployment in the state need to be addressed first.
