Try your hand in an election prediction game in the lead-up to a very special election results show with VotesUp.
As seven phases of polling finally drag to a close today, Newslaundry is partnering with VotesUp to bring you some fun as results are unpacked on May 23.
Welcome to the VotesUp Election Special Show! Starting at 9 am on May 23, YouTubers Dhruv Rathee and Akash Banerjee and comedian Kunal Kamra will be live on air, explaining the data, talking to experts, and making jokes. They’ll look forward to all the things that we can expect from our new leaders, while looking back on all the things they’ve done over the last five years.
The hosts will be joined by Gul Panag, with her unique insights into party politics. They’ll be speaking to journalists such as Snigdha Poonam, Shoaib Daniyal and Niha Masih, who’ll tell you stories from the campaign trail and match wits with the hosts. Rahul Easwar and Krishan Bishnoi will talk about the Indian Right-wing and how it’s changed since 2014. Podcasters Alok Prasanna Kumar and Sarayu Natarajan, hosts of India’s most insightful political podcast Ganatantra, will be in the studio to interpret the results as they stream in. They’ll also be joined by the ferocious and witty team of Newslaundry (yup, that’s us!) to talk about what’s in store for India after #Elections2019.
The show will be streamed live on the VotesUp YouTube channel, and on the YouTube channels of Dhruv, Kunal, Akash and Newslaundry. You can also track details on their website, Facebook and Twitter.
But why wait until May 23 for all the entertainment? You can also participate in an election prediction game. Log on to the VotesUp website here, and follow these easy steps. All you need to do is predict India’s next prime minister, predict the national result, predict who will win in your home state, and stand a chance to win a bumper prize if you get every state result right.
