Huma explains why she chose to do the series and how she perceives the differences between the book and series. She plays a character called Shalini who is searching for her daughter who was taken away years ago. Huma tells Madhu about the character and the process of getting into Shalini’s skin. Madhu asks her about her journey on screen, from advertisements to Gangs Of Wasseypur, and the kind of tough choices she made in the process. Huma describes the most fulfilling aspects, to her, of being an actor.

The conversation spans Huma’s views on discrimination, women empowerment and other pressing issues in society today.
