The Centre has launched a new campaign to "spread the word" about its public welfare efforts. According to a letter sent to other union ministers by Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar, the campaign has been named "Har Kaam Desh Ke Naam".

The Indian Express reports that Javadekar sent the letter on February 11.

The letter said: "I want to bring to your attention that from February 15, 2020 to March 31, 2020, it is required to publicise the public welfare works of this government through television, newspapers, outdoor (advertisements) and through the digital medium. Hence, this is to request you to prepare a campaign on those programmes of your ministry that will benefit the public. This time, the advertisements will be broadcast on the theme ‘Har Kaam Desh Ke Naam'."

Perhaps considering the timing of the letter — the day the AAP triumphed over the BJP in the Delhi Assembly election — the letter continued: "Such campaigns are undertaken by all governments and have nothing to do with the outcome of elections."

So, some media outlets might hope to get these "Har Kaam Desh Ke Naam" advertisements soon, but guess who isn't getting any ads? Newslaundry, because we don't actually want them: it's you, the reader, who funds us. Because when advertisers pay, the advertiser is served. And when the public pays, the public is served.
