Why hasn't Hotstar uploaded the latest episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver?

The episode, which lampoons India's prime minister, Narendra Modi, is not up yet on the streaming platform. Hotstar usually uploads the latest episode on Tuesdays at 6 am, but the "latest episode" of the show is still the one dated February 16, 2020.

The Modi-centric episode pulled no punches. Oliver called out Modi for being divisive, described demonetisation as a "mess", said Modi and the BJP is "actively trying to erase whole sections of Indian history", that he's offered only "tepid apologies" after being at the centre of the 2002 riots in Gujarat. Oliver also described the new citizenship law as a "diabolically clever" move to "strip millions of Muslims of citizenship".

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

It's unclear why Hotstar has delayed uploading the new episode but for now, Indian viewers can still catch it on YouTube.
