Has a senior Congress leader ever told you anything? Twitter wants to know

It became a meme format after multiple journalists quoted "senior leaders" to describe the political crisis in Rajasthan.

During the Balakot airstrikes last year, "sources say" was the flavour of the moment. Journalists quoted these "sources" to death for fantastical stories, such as "reports" on how a Pakistani pilot was lynched by his own people.

Anonymous sources are, obviously, key to the journalistic process, but accuracy can't be flung to the wind. This year, with the growing confusion over just what's happening in Rajasthan, there's a new source in town: the "senior Congress leader".

It started off simply enough: journalists cited information from anonymous senior leaders from the party to piece together the political crisis after Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot went rogue.

Twitter being Twitter, the "senior Congress leader" soon became a meme. Sample this.
