Times Group chairperson Indu Jain died on Thursday night due to Covid-related complications, Indian Express reported. She was 84 years old and had been the company chairperson since 1999, after her husband Ashok Jain passed away.

Times Now shared a video commemorating her life where they said that she was a “lifelong spiritual seeker and a pioneering philanthropist”. She was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2016 for trade and industry.

The video added that the first thing people noticed about Indu Jain was her “radiant complexion and childlike mischievous smile”. It also said that she was a passionate proponent of women’s rights and that she had “evolved a distinctive leadership style, characterised by compassion and inclusiveness, that helped propel the group to new heights”.
