The podcast where we discuss the news of the week.
This week, Abhinandan Sekhri, Manisha Pande, Raman Kirpal and Anand Vardhan are joined by political commentator Neerja Chowdhury and sports journalist Chander Shekhar Luthra.
The conversation starts with the significance of Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s “mega meeting”, which was attended by all the potential allies of the party. “K Chandrashekar Rao does not have a chance of being accepted as the leader of opposition. However, he is playing a national card (by inviting opposition leaders) to invoke Telugu pride among the voters,” says Neerja.
The discussion moves to the protests by Indian wrestlers against the Wrestling Federation of India and its president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. “My hunch is there is a greater political game in play. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is not a lightweight politician. He is the same man who went to Goa to help in defection,” says Chander Shekhar.
The panel also talks about the BJP’s national executive meeting and the seasonal claims that PM Modi asked his party leaders to reach out to the Muslim community. They also discuss the tussle between the Delhi government and the Centre and the case in the Supreme Court.
