This week on NL Hafta, Newslaundry’s Abhinandan Sekhri, Raman Kirpal, Manisha Pande and Anand Vardhan are joined by journalists Ashutosh Bhardwaj and Samrat X.

On the Congress’s unprecedented loss in Chhattisgarh, unpredicted by an exit poll, Ashutosh says Bhupesh Baghel “angered and annoyed” many of his supporters. “He was unable to provide a just solution to the Naxal crisis in the state.”

Samrat explains the Zoram Peoples’ Movement’s 27-seat victory in Mizoram in its first ever formal election as a recognised political party. “It’s a bit like the AAP phenomenon. The comparison is justified…For everyone in Mizoram, this was a vote for change.”

Finally, the panel discusses DMK MP Senthilkumar S describing the Hindi belt as “gaumutra states”. Abhinandan says he’s surprised by how TV media reacted to the statement, to which Raman adds, “I don’t think primetime is determined by the editorial departments of television anymore.”

This and a lot more. Tune in!
