Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the alleged liquor excise policy scam.

AAP leader Atishi Singh said they have moved the Supreme Court to seek the quashing of Kejriwal’s arrest and have demanded an “urgent hearing by tonight itself”.

This comes weeks before the general elections, and after at least nine summons by the ED against Kejriwal.

The summons were issued on March 21, March 4, February 26, February 19, February 2, January 18, January 3, and December 22 and November 2 last year.

The ED had reached the Delhi CM’s residence hours after the Delhi High Court had denied any interim protection to Kejriwal in the liquor policy case. In the run up to the arrest, several AAP leaders had alleged a “big conspiracy” against the Delhi CM.

Three other AAP leaders – former Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and Satyendar Jain – are in jail in connection with the same case.
