‘Winning is crucial’: AAP’s Reena Gupta on poll tickets to defectors, air pollution fix

The AAP Delhi secretary suggested that India should adopt China’s approach to tackling air pollution.

The AQI recently hit record levels in the national capital, while political tensions are also rising amid a series of defections, with the Delhi assembly polls just months away. So what is the Aam Aadmi Party’s strategy?

In this interview with Abhinandan Sekhri, AAP’s Delhi state secretary Reena Gupta addresses the question of the air pollution crisis, alliance with the Congress, why defectors are being given poll tickets, communal politics, and TV news.   

On AAP announcing the names of six defectors as its candidates, Gupta says, “Winning is crucial.”  Asked about the solution to the air crisis, she suggests that India should adopt China’s approach, which gave targets to its provincial governments.
