He wants the Prime Minister to pay heed to the views and interests of even those who don’t support him.
“Don’t forget, you are the Prime Minister of the whole of India.”
It’s a reminder Gopalkrishna Gandhi first offered Narendra Modi in an open letter back in 2014. Eleven years later, his message remains largely the same.
In 2014, he urged the newly elected Prime Minister to “reassure the minorities”. In 2025, he calls on Modi to reflect on the concerns and perspectives of the Opposition. “The views and interests of those who don’t support the Prime Minister should be just as important to him as those of his supporters,” he says.
