The NDA and Mahagathbandhan have made a slew of promises in the run-up to polls. Are voters convinced?
With the Chhath festival over, Bihar’s election season is heating up again. The Mahagathbandhan held its first joint rally in Sakra, Muzaffarpur, where top leaders Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and Mukesh Sahani shared the stage.
Before the rally, the alliance released its manifesto, “Tejashwi Pran”, promising to bring Bihar back on the path of economic and social progress. Key pledges include a government job for every family, restoration of the old pension scheme, monthly financial support for women, and 200 units of free electricity, nearly double the 125 units promised by Nitish Kumar’s government.
Meanwhile, the JD(U) has also announced several schemes, notably Rs 10,000 in financial aid for women. But on the ground, people told us their real concerns remain migration, unemployment, education, and poor healthcare.
Many say Nitish Kumar’s new promises have failed to inspire confidence, and that the Rs 10,000 handout is just an attempt to buy votes.
