For today’s episode of Aaj Ka AQI, Newslaundry visited the famous Lodhi Garden in central Delhi. The nearest CPCB air quality monitoring station pegged the AQI at 283 in the ‘poor’ category, while our own monitor showed 336, in the ‘very poor’ category.

To address the city’s chronic air pollution problem, the Delhi government unveiled a four-year plan on January 16. At the heart of this plan is a significant expansion of the city’s bus fleet. In July 2024, the city only had 7,683 buses, including 1,970 electric buses. The government plans to expand it to 14,000 buses by March 2029. They have also earmarked Rs 6,000 crore to rebuild or upgrade 3,300 km of roads across the city, including those in unauthorised colonies.
