For millions of people, faith offers succour, hope and guidance. It also offers an opportunity for the unscrupulous to exploit these beliefs for their own gain, through shady businesses, criminal activities, political patronage, and phoney ‘cures’.

And yet most of the media turns the other way, funded by the conglomerates run by India’s self-proclaimed ‘godmen’.
