The Supreme Court has barred former cricket administrators N Srinivasan and Niranjan Shah from attending the July 26 Special General Meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), stating that only the office-bearers of the state associations can attend the meeting.
In response to the Supreme Court’s order, the BCCI said, “The Lodha Panel cannot bar a nominee like Srinivasan.” The board also said, “Srinivasan had attended four meetings previously and no one had questioned it. But when the former BCCI President spoke against the Lodha Panel, he was barred from attending the meeting,” as reported by NDTV.
Former Congress Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, who is representing Srinivasan, said, “The Lodha Panel is targeting Srinivasan.”
The Supreme Court will be giving its final decision on the matter on August 18, while also deciding on other matters including recommendations of the Lodha panel such as one state one vote policy and the matter of Vinod Rai-headed Committee of Administrators, where two positions were vacated after Ramachandra Guha and Vikram Limaye tendered their respective resignations.
