Supreme Court to hear Ayodhya case from Aug 11, Justice Misra to head bench

A three-judge Supreme Court bench led by Justice Dipak Misra will hear the appeals filed against the Allahabad High Court’s order in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case from August 11, a Tribune report said.

According to the cause-list issued by the Supreme Court Registry, the other two judges being Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice S Abdul Nazeer. Justice Misra is set to succeed Chief  Justice of India Justice Khehar when he retires.

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had sought an early hearing and adjudication in the case. CJI JS Khehar had told Swamy on July 21 that the matter will be listed soon. Swamy had also filed a separate petition seeking the enforcement of his right to worship at the site.

The appeals have been pending since 2010 after a three-judge Allahabad HC bench divided the 2.77-acre land equally between ‘Ram Lalla’, Nirmohi Akhara and the Sunni Wakf Board.
