Breaking its silence over the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exam paper leaks, Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) has announced the dates for re-examination.
The CBSE will hold re-examination of Economics paper of Class 12 on April 25, Anil Swarup, secretary education told the media. However, the re-examination for Class 10 Mathematics paper will be held only in Haryana and Delhi.
Swarup said that the paper was leaked on social media only in these two states. However, when asked how did the ministry and the CBSE ascertain that the leaks took place only in these two states and that the paper was not shared outside the borders of these two states, the education secretary said, “There are not perfect answers right now. We have been reliably told that the paper was leaked only in Delhi and Haryana.”
CBSE chief Anita Karwal clarified that if at all the re-examination of Class 10 Maths paper is held, “it will be in Delhi NCR and Haryana.” This means students from NCR area that is Noida, Ghaziabad will have to sit in the re-examination, if announced by the Board.
Swarup, however, maintained that the ministry will be able to announce its final call on Class 10 paper only over the next fortnight. “The entire briefing is to look into the interest of the child,” he said.
There will be no re-examination in schools outside India.
The ministry official argued that considering the nature of Class 12 examination after which students have to take entrance examinations and apply to universities, the CBSE has taken a quick step for class 12.
Swarup kept on dodging the questions related to fixation of responsibilities for these leaks. He assured that action will be taken against those involved only after the investigation is over.
