On Monday, a magistrate court in Pune granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody of Sharad Kalaskar—the man arrested by the Maharashtra ATS in connection with his role in the Nallasopara arms haul case—till September 15.

The CBI had produced Kalaskar, Amit Digwekar, and Rajesh Bangera, in a Pune court on Monday, seeking to extend their custodial remand, reported the Indian Express; the latter two had been earlier arrested by Karnataka Police’s Special Investigation Team in regards with their role in the Gauri Lankesh murder case.

“The court also refused to extend the CBI custody of the two and remanded them in judicial custody.”

Digwekar and Bangera were sent to magisterial custody, according to an article in Scroll; while requesting foe the extension of the duo’s custody, the CBI also informed the court that Digvekar was in touch with Virendra Tawde and Amol Kale—both of whom are also accused in the Dabholkar murder case.

The magistrate court, after going through the remand application filed by the CBI, also observed that there had been little progress in the inquiry.
