Logically is a fact-checking platform run by data scientists, writers, and developers who seek to help put a stop to misinformation using AI and expert analysis.
In this workshop, Logically CEO Lyric Jain; vice president, India operations, Sagar Kaul; and senior fact checker Devika Kandelwal discuss their platform and work. The discussion is moderated by Meghnad S of Newslaundry.
Introducing Logically, Jain says, “We fight misinformation at scale, around the world.”
The spread of false information may seem like a simple problem with a simple solution, Jain argues, but it’s quite complicated. There are many stakeholders adversely affected by misinformation, be it a common man influenced by false propaganda or a government making decisions about national security and public health, or media organisations monetising unreliable content.
Pointing out that fact-checking used to be integral to the work of a media organisation, Jain says, “It was the role of sub-editors to ensure that any information a newspaper or media house was putting out was accurate, otherwise they would be held legally responsible for it or the reputation would be on the line. But as the commercial model of journalism and newsrooms changed, that function got completely gutted.”
The Logically team also gives a presentation on how the platform fact-checks content and takes questions from the audience.
