Several major news websites crashed today after a global internet outage. The websites included the Guardian, Financial Times, the New York Times, Bloomberg and CNN. Other websites like Amazon and Reddit also faced disruptions.

Newsweek reported that the disruptions were not localised; they were reported from Australia, North America, the United Kingdom, Europe and China. According to NDTV, some reports pointed at a "glitch" at cloud computing services provider Fastly. This was also noted by the Guardian's UK technology correspondent Alex Hern.
