What happens when the media reports on pollution only during one season?
For this episode of Aaj Ka AQI, Newslaundry visited Noida's Film City, which is home to the offices of several major national news channels of the country.
At Film City, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 114, which fell in the ‘unhealthy for sensitive groups’ category, while PM 2.5 level was 52 and PM 10 was 114.
Thirteen of the 20 most polluted cities are in India, according to a list released by Swiss air quality technology company IQAir. Noida and Greater Noida also figured in the list.
In April 2025, UP CM Yogi Adityanath announced to set up a pollution control board in every district of the state. However, so far, such boards have been set up only in 28 of the 75 districts of the state.
Newslaundry does not see this air crisis as just a season or a trend. We report its changes throughout the year, ask questions to those responsible, because clean air is the right of every citizen.
