March 26, 2026: How the Delhi Assembly is swallowing the truth on air monitors
The PAC report largely clears Delhi’s air pollution monitoring stations with a ‘clean’ report, but a CAG audit and our investigations tell a much different story.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Delhi Assembly recently said that only 3 of the 40 continuous ambient air quality monitoring systems (CAAQMS) violate the Central Pollution Control Board's location guidelines. These guidelines mandate that no trees or buildings be within a 20-metre radius of the CAAQMS.
The findings of the PAC, which keeps a tab on the Delhi government’s expenditure, run counter to those of a Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report. It is also a far cry from what we revealed over a year ago.
